What you can do
Preserve the effect that explains the correction
A stock correction needs to distinguish the original request from the effect already posted. The Inventory Reviewer examines the recorded movements and reservations before authorizing the applicable correction. For eligible reversals, the workflow calculates the remaining scope and appends an opposite-signed movement linked to the original effect.
Operation receipts retain the action key, expected revision, result and effect references. The result shows whether an operation is pending, completed or failed, or needs review, so the team can identify work requiring investigation. Reconciliation checks the persisted effects behind those receipts so an apparent completion can be explained from the actual stock record.
How the work is organized
- Reasoned correction. The Inventory Coordinator identifies the affected request and records the reason through the correction handoff. The Inventory Reviewer considers the current scope and the posted history before making an independent decision.
- Linked compensation. The reversal path appends a movement with the opposite signed quantity within the allowed remaining scope. Its reference to the original movement and stable reversal key make the adjustment traceable and distinguish a retry from new corrective work.
- Evidence-led reconciliation. Inspect unsettled receipts against the movements linked to the same request. Review the expected revision, declared effect and discrepancy before deciding whether the result can be treated as complete.
What to agree during setup
Define who investigates failed operations and how a coordinator supplies the correction reason. Agree the evidence needed to distinguish unexecuted scope from stock effects that require compensation. Keep the independent reviewer involved whenever the existing effect changes what the correction is allowed to do.
Rehearse manual reconciliation and the scheduled run, which occurs every 15 minutes. Where an operation refers to an external system, agree the confirmation procedure as part of that connection. An external reference should help the investigator find the related result; the team still needs evidence that the intended effect occurred.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a posted CH-204 movement that requires a partial correction. The Inventory Reviewer checks how much scope remains available to reverse and records the appropriate independent decision. Inspect the newly appended movement, its opposite sign and its reference to the original. The original posted effect should remain visible in the history.
Repeat the same reversal request with its stable key and check that it does not create another adjustment. Try a correction beyond the remaining original scope and confirm it cannot be accepted as valid. Finally, reconcile a receipt whose declared effect does not match the linked movement. The reviewer should retain a clear discrepancy for investigation instead of treating the receipt’s label as sufficient evidence of completion.
What your team sees
- Operation Exceptions — Failed operations and items needing review, with the expected revision and effect references available for investigation.
- Review Decision History — Independent decisions and reasons behind the correction handoff.
- Posted Movement History — The original stock effect and its linked compensating movement.
Follow the work through
Use reversal and correction to rehearse the adjustment, then operation reconciliation to inspect the settled result.
What it keeps track of
Data model- Operation receipts
- Durable receipts for guarded operations with stable operation keys.
- Review decisions
- Independent reviewer decisions recorded against a frozen request revision.
- Stock requests
- Business requests to receive, move, reserve or issue chemical stock.
- Stock movements
- Posted signed stock movements that establish on-hand quantity.
- Stock reservations
- Active claims on eligible free stock for an approved request.
- Team members
- Named people who prepare, review and audit chemical stock operations.
Who uses it
Permissions- Inventory Coordinator
- , Inventory Reviewer, Auditor.
- The coordinator explains the correction, the reviewer decides and reconciles the eligible scope, and Auditor follows the retained original and compensating effects.
