What you can do

Examine the hold

A cold chain review is linked to a stock request and its organization. Cold Chain Operations can record the sensor reference, review time, highest observed temperature and excursion duration. The record also carries a revision and a status from Draft through Submitted to a decision and completion. These facts give the reviewer a specific event to consider rather than a general note that stock was held.

Inventory Reviewer decides the submitted review. The reviewer should inspect the evidence attached to the parent request and the lot’s release state alongside the excursion details. The outcome and decision time belong on the cold chain review; request decisions remain separate records. An approval is a human disposition of the stated review scope. It does not replace the posted stock movement or alter the lot’s recorded release state by itself.

How the work is organized

  • Capture. Cold Chain Operations records the sensor reference and excursion measurements against the parent request.
  • Submit. The review moves to Submitted when the evidence and scope are ready for a reviewer.
  • Decide. Inventory Reviewer records the outcome and decision time on the submitted review.

What to agree during setup

Decide which sensor reference format the team uses and where the underlying reading can be retrieved. Agree on the time basis for excursion duration and on who checks the maximum temperature. Define the evidence the reviewer needs for each disposition. Where readings arrive from an external sensor service, define that connection and its ownership during implementation.

Agree on the relationship between a cold chain review and lot release state. A review decision and a lot release decision are separate recorded facts. Make the handoff explicit so a reviewed request does not become an informal instruction to use a quarantined lot.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A request concerns an item at a location after a temperature excursion; a linked reservation or movement identifies the affected lot. Cold Chain Operations records the sensor reference, highest observed temperature and elapsed excursion time. An attachment on the request carries the evidence the team uses to inspect the event. Inventory Reviewer compares the submitted revision with the evidence and records an approval or rejection at the decision time.

Then inspect the parent request, the lot release state and the operation history together. If the review is rejected, the request should continue to show that decision context. If the review is approved, the team still needs to check the request decision and lot release state before any stock action. The sensor evidence must be available for that release decision.

What your team sees

  • Submitted cold chain reviews — Events awaiting a reviewer decision with excursion context.
  • Cold chain review status — Reviews grouped by their recorded state.
  • Shared evidence — Request attachments available to the authorized reviewer.
