What you can do
Correct the effect without losing its history
A changed stock request needs different handling depending on whether its physical effects have occurred. The Inventory Coordinator can request cancellation of unused scope through the authorized path. Executed scope needs the Inventory Reviewer’s approval for a compensating action that retains the original source identity.
A reversal appends a compensating movement linked to the original movement. It also resolves the matching reservation through the guarded operation where applicable. The Auditor can then follow the original posting and its correction without treating deletion of the first record as an explanation of what happened.
How the work is organized
- Identify the affected scope. Read the request revision, original movement and operation receipt before choosing a correction. Distinguish an active claim that can be released from a physical effect that needs compensation.
- Authorize the correction. The Inventory Reviewer decides on executed scope using the supporting evidence. The Warehouse Operator carries out the authorized reversal with its source identity and required transit evidence preserved.
- Verify completion from evidence. Reconciliation compares the expected scope, quantity and revision with persisted local effects. When an external reference is involved, use the configured authoritative source to establish the corresponding outcome.
What to agree during setup
Agree who may request a correction and what evidence the reviewer needs before authorizing compensation. Define how the original receipt or dispatch reference is retained when work moves between systems. For transit cases, decide where both dispatch and receiving evidence can be inspected.
Set the process for pending or failed receipts and receipts needing review. A completion result needs evidence of the expected effect, including an authoritative external result when that is part of the operation. Agree attachment visibility and access so the reviewer and Auditor can inspect the evidence they are authorized to use.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Choose a pilot posted movement that requires correction and retain its original source reference. Have the Inventory Coordinator request the change and the Inventory Reviewer approve the compensating scope. Perform the authorized reversal, then follow the link from the compensating movement to the original entry.
Repeat the correction request with the same operation identity and inspect the existing result before accepting any further effect. Next, review a receipt whose claimed quantity disagrees with the posted movements. Keep it unresolved until the evidence explains the discrepancy. If a transit transfer includes an external reference, compare the local records with the authoritative dispatch or receiving result before considering completion verified.
What your team sees
- Unresolved Operation Receipts — Pending or failed operations and operations needing review, with their recorded explanation.
- Inventory Decision History — Independent decisions and reasons linked to the reviewed request scope.
- Posted Stock Movements — Original and compensating effects connected through their reversal references.
Follow the work through
Use correction and reconciliation and revisit reservation to confirmed issue when the correction affects an existing claim.
