What you can do
Start with the action being requested
Inventory Coordinator records the stock action as a request with a record number, subject, required date and requested units. The request points to the organization, owner, item and storage location. The counterparty is a storage location too, which helps the team distinguish where stock is held from the other site involved in a movement. The request revision gives the reviewer a defined version to decide.
For example, a coordinator preparing a movement of a consigned item from one storage site to another records the item, destination, counterparty and units before requesting review. Inventory Reviewer can assess that version beside its attachments and lot context. A changed quantity needs a new look before any posted effect is treated as approved.
How the work is organized
- Draft. Inventory Coordinator prepares the subject, quantity, location and supporting evidence while the request remains Draft.
- Review. Inventory Reviewer records a decision and reason against the request revision while it is in Review.
- Execution. The approved request keeps the resulting operation receipt and stock movements linked to the same record number.
What to agree during setup
Agree which team member owns each organization and how locations represent the sites that hold consigned goods. Decide what the subject and record number should tell a reviewer without opening every attachment. Define the evidence required for receipt, transfer, reservation and use, along with who is allowed to send a request to Review.
Agree how the team checks the requested quantity against item units and how it handles a lot with a pending or blocked release state. The item and lot record provide the basis for that check. The reviewer should know which revision is under decision, and the coordinator should know what a Return or Reject decision requires before resubmitting.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Take a real consignment movement and follow its request from Draft into Review. Verify that Inventory Reviewer can identify the correct item, organization, location, counterparty, required date and quantity. Add a supporting attachment with the correct visibility. Record a review decision, then inspect the linked operation receipt and any posted movement after the action. If the quantity changes between review and execution, stop and review the changed revision before continuing.
For a cancelled request, confirm the record remains available with its previous context. For an executed request, use a compensating movement if the posted quantity needs correction. That preserves the original signed effect and gives the auditor a complete line of sight.
