How a Shop Floor Control rollout works
Prepare a real production cycle, rehearse its failure cases and agree the handoffs before the floor depends on it.
Agree the pilot
Choose a product, customer order and normal production resource. Name the planner, operator and quality reviewer who will run the rehearsal. Agree what counts as full accepted scope for the work order.
Prepare identity and masters
Link personnel to their user accounts and review item units, customers, suppliers and resources. Confirm how resource availability is maintained before it is used for release.
Reconcile starting stock
Load the pilot material by item, location and lot, including reservations. Decide how the issue action selects the exact balance when the same lot exists in several locations.
Run the operating handoffs
Approve customer demand, release work, submit an operator assignment and post a material issue. Record good and scrap output, then ask Quality Reviewer to decide the Pending batch.
Exercise rejected actions
Test an unapproved order, unavailable resource, conflicting assignment, insufficient free stock and invalid production interval. Repeat an issue and an accepted receipt to check their stock effects are not duplicated.
Review and release the pilot
Reconcile stock and remaining work with the team. Agree the Held and Rejected procedures, station event response and correction ownership before adding more products or connections.
What the customer provides
Bring an actual customer commitment, product and material identifiers, item units, stock locations and current lot balances. Provide the people who will operate the pilot and the stations they use. Include the inspection evidence required for acceptance and the operating rule for when a resource can be marked Available.
Use a worked case the team recognizes. A bracket run with an unavailable press, reserved material and some scrap will reveal more about the handoffs than a collection of unrelated sample records.
Changing it afterwards
Rehearse changes to units, role access, station-state behavior or acceptance rules before using them on live work. Keep existing posted issues and accepted receipts available for reconciliation. Review new connections against the same duplicate-posting and record-identity cases used in the pilot. Begin with get started and use the data model to plan imports.
