Prepare the next building review with Proto

Use Proto to prepare energy and site reviews while people retain the decisions about evidence and operating conditions.

It can

  • Facilities Manager: Gather open events and outstanding tasks for the authorized sites before the operating review.
  • Energy Analyst: Find source-quality exceptions and show the meter mode and unit used for a selected reading.
  • Energy Reviewer: Prepare a received interval with its source readings and boundaries before the validation decision.
  • Site Operator: Find the sensor's operating context and prepare a dated observation with the intended quality flag.

Stays with a person

  • The assistant cannot establish that a physical condition has ended without the team's operating evidence or accept an energy interval without the designated review.
  • It must preserve the difference between source quality and interval validation.
  • Source-system writes and external actions require their own authorization, and access must stay within the account's permitted site scope.
  • Assistant requests, imports and connected operations follow the platform's usage billing.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Choose the pilot site

Select a facility whose meter and operating context the team understands. Confirm site naming, timezone and the physical source identifiers before preparing records.

  2. Map people and authority

Name the Facilities Manager, Energy Analyst, Energy Reviewer and responders. Have Admin verify account mappings and the active-person convention. Agree the task approval and completion policy separately from event resolution.

  3. Prepare energy evidence

Register the meter with its unit and reading mode, then capture source values and quality. Configure reset handling and interval-boundary rules. Rehearse a reviewer acceptance and a rejection before using quantities in reports.

  4. Prepare the site response

Record an event, acknowledge its actual start and assign an active responder. Register a relevant sensor against its operating context and capture an observation. Check the saved sensor and observation against the selected event, and review missing or invalid evidence.

  5. Review the complete cycle

Complete the assigned task under its policy and separately resolve the event with the actual end. Inspect the tariff periods and accepted energy information. Confirm site scope and operating access before expanding to other buildings.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Smart Building Management for your business. Begin with a known site and meter, an energy interval that can be reviewed, and an operating event with an assigned responder and relevant sensor observation.

How do we distinguish meter reading modes?

Register the meter as Cumulative or Interval according to its source practice. Keep the unit and site visible before interpreting incoming values or deriving a consumption period.

How are cumulative-register resets handled?

The reading process uses reset-aware differencing before preparing the energy interval. Agree the actual source evidence and reset rule during setup, then rehearse a reset with the Energy Reviewer before relying on the quantity.

Who validates energy intervals?

Energy Reviewer checks the meter, source readings, period and unit before accepting a Received interval as Validated or marking it Rejected. Configure that authority and the correction practice during the pilot.

What happens when an event is acknowledged?

Facilities Manager records the actual start and the event process assigns site maintenance work to an active responder. The task then follows its agreed progress and completion policy.

Does completing a task resolve the operating event?

Task completion and event resolution are separate records and decisions. Facilities Manager reviews the condition and records its actual end through the event process when the event is resolved.

How is a sensor connected to the building context?

The sensor registration references the selected operating record and retains the building, zone, metric and unit. That operating event establishes the site context for the sensor evidence.

How do we handle questionable observations?

Keep Missing and Invalid sensor observations visible for investigation. Review the sensor identity, metric, unit and observation date before relying on a value in the building's operating discussion.

How should tariff records be reviewed?

Check the site, unit and effective dates together with the recorded rate. Identify changes or overlaps before interpreting rate context across a wider energy period, and configure any finance-system connection separately.

What should we test before the first operating cycle?

Test reset handling, overlapping energy periods and an interval rejection. Also test an inactive responder, invalid sensor references and personal task access. Check the saved sensor observation, completed task and resolved event separately.
