What you can do

Preserve what the source actually says

A reading’s energy value needs context before it can support an acceptance decision. The quality flag retains the source’s designation, including the distinction for estimated readings. Source evidence lines identify their origin, occurrence time, measured value and unit, with verification timing available for review. Together they help Authorized Utility Supervisor understand which observation supports the submitted work.

Utility Coordinator locates the relevant evidence and prepares supporting files through authorized actions. The supervisor reviews the identified source revision independently. A reviewer should be able to follow the source reference and explain what was checked without treating every measurement under the same case as interchangeable evidence for every interval.

How the work is organized

  • Source identity. Retain the source reference and evidence type with the observation. Check the occurrence time and parent case when locating the material. A file or line that concerns another observation should not support the current interval merely because it is nearby in the evidence list.
  • Measurement meaning. Read the value together with its unit and the source’s quality designation. Keep incompatible units separate in analysis. Use verification timing to understand the evidence history, while keeping the actual review decision and its reason traceable.
  • Estimated readings. Preserve the source quality flag when a reading is estimated. Review it under the agreed acceptance policy and retain the designation afterward. A later measured result requires the controlled correction process for accepted scope, with the earlier evidence preserved.

What to agree during setup

Agree the source vocabulary for evidence types, quality flags and units. The quality flag is supplied as text, so establish a consistent interpretation before comparing readings. Define how the team identifies an estimate and what evidence the supervisor needs to decide whether the submitted interval can be accepted.

Choose how source observations enter the system through the authorized ingestion or workflow path. Confirm who may inspect them and who can change their verification state through an eligible action. A coordinator’s ability to read evidence does not imply direct editing authority. Define useful file titles and visibility so the reviewer can locate the relevant source observations and access it safely within the intended scope.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Prepare an illustrative interval whose source marks it as estimated. Utility Coordinator locates the supporting evidence, checks the unit and retains the original quality designation. Authorized Utility Supervisor reviews the current revision and records the decision reason. After acceptance, the estimate remains identifiable in the reading history and any energy review that includes it.

Now receive a measured observation for that same interval. Follow the correction process for the already accepted scope, retaining the original estimate and its decision. Do not silently relabel the earlier reading or submit an unexplained duplicate. In a separate rehearsal, present evidence with a different unit or source reference. The supervisor should identify the mismatch before accepting it as support for the intended reading.

What your team sees

  • Service Evidence — Source references, measured values, units and verification timing for the case evidence.
  • Internal Case Evidence — Supporting files with their evidence type, uploader and parent case.
  • Returned Decisions — Review reasons explaining which source or quality question needs clarification.

Follow the work through

Start with case intake and evidence review, then use controlled correction when accepted evidence needs a change.
