What you can do

Keep approval and destination outcomes visible

A submitted post has an ordered approval chain. Each step identifies its type, assigned Approver and decision state, with comments and a decision time. Marketing Manager uses the chain to establish whether the post is ready for the intended channel handoff.

Channel targets retain the account-specific copy or media and the outcome for that destination. A target can be Pending, Published, Failed or Skipped. Its recorded URL, channel post identity and failure reason help the team investigate what happened without relying only on the parent post’s status.

How the work is organized

  • Work the assigned decision. Approver examines the post and its target context, then records the decision and comments for the assigned step. Brand, Legal and Executive identify the review types in the submission routing. Marketing Manager checks the required chain outcome before accepting the post as Approved.
  • Prepare the due handoff. Keep the intended publication time on the approved post and confirm the selected accounts. Target overrides should reflect the copy and media the team has reviewed. Admin handles connection questions that prevent the responsible team from proceeding.
  • Inspect each destination. Marketing Manager checks the target state and recorded destination reference. A Published parent can coexist with a Failed destination when another target succeeded. The failure remains part of the operating work until its outcome is understood.

What to agree during setup

Name the Approver responsible for each required review type and decide how rejection comments return to Content Creator. Agree the conditions under which a skipped step is acceptable. The team needs a clear policy for changes made after a decision, including changes to target-specific copy.

Agree the source of destination outcomes and how staff verify a recorded URL against the chosen account. Set the handoff to Admin when a connection needs attention. Decide who can authorize another attempt after a failure and how they will check for an existing destination post first.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Prepare a rehearsal launch post aimed at LinkedIn and Instagram. Record the required approval decisions with their comments and times. Marketing Manager checks the chain and the approved copy before inspecting the channel targets.

Use a case where the LinkedIn target has a recorded Published outcome and the Instagram target is Failed with a reason. The parent post may show Published, so ask the manager to identify the unresolved destination explicitly. The team should not report completion across the selected accounts merely from that parent label.

Next, rehearse an uncertain response where the destination might already contain the post. Check the account and recorded identity before arranging another attempt. Keep the failed target’s explanation available for the person taking over the case.

What your team sees

  • Approval Inbox — Pending steps with their review type, assigned person and post.
  • Due Approved Posts — Approved content whose planned date has arrived.
  • Channel Target Outcomes — Individual account outcomes, destination references and failure details.
