What you can do

Keep the reporting grain visible

Marketing Manager inspects daily post analytics for a specific post, social account and rollup date. The record carries impressions, reach and engagements alongside the available interaction measures. Keeping those identifiers visible helps the team understand which account outcome a result describes.

Raw engagement records retain the event type, observed time and associated channel target. Campaign links connect the performance discussion to the initiative’s stated goal. The team can follow a reported total back to the intended content and account context before combining results across campaigns or dates.

How the work is organized

  • Inspect the daily record. Select the post, account and date window under discussion. Read the available impressions, reach, engagements and other recorded measures together. A rate needs its own measurement definition before it is compared across different sources or periods.
  • Follow the engagement context. Raw events identify whether the interaction was a Like, Share, Comment, Save, Click, View, Follow or Reaction. Their channel-target association helps the team distinguish accounts for the same post. Keep the event context available when a daily total needs explanation.
  • Connect the campaign goal. Marketing Manager checks the stated goal and linked content before discussing campaign results. Inspect shared posts and the campaign window. A useful campaign summary still needs a clear rule for combining records in a broader reporting view.

What to agree during setup

Agree which source supplies each measure and how the daily reporting window is interpreted. Set the rollup time zone and how late observations are handled. Configure the daily rollup to update an existing post, account and date combination, then check a repeated run against that record.

Decide how to interpret engagement rates and reach when combining records. Document the measurement basis used in the first campaign review. Keep the campaign’s budget reference separate from the source of any advertising spend or financial analysis the organization performs elsewhere.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Use a rehearsal launch post with results recorded for LinkedIn and Instagram. Marketing Manager selects the reporting dates and identifies the account for each daily row. Inspect the associated raw engagement types before explaining a difference in the recorded totals.

Repeat the same daily rollup through the configured reporting process and inspect the existing post, account and date combination. The intended outcome updates that row instead of creating a duplicate. Confirm that the campaign discussion uses the selected window and does not add another copy of a shared post’s performance.

Then compare a competitor observation captured much later than the launch result. Keep the source and capture context visible before presenting it as a useful benchmark. Viewer should be able to identify the actual reporting grain and understand which comparisons the evidence supports.
