What you can do
Every fixture needs confirmed officials
An official assignment links a person from the registry to a fixture with a role, such as referee, assistant referee or scorer, and whether the official has confirmed. The League Coordinator assigns officials when the schedule is published and follows up on anyone who has not confirmed before match day.
The official who runs the match submits the result. Because results are confirmed by someone else, the submitting official never confirms their own match.
How the work is organized
- Roles per fixture. Each fixture lists the officials it needs, by role.
- Confirmation tracked. Unconfirmed assignments are visible to the coordinator.
- Officials see their own list. Each official sees the fixtures they are assigned to.
What to agree during setup
Agree the officials each fixture needs by competition level. Decide how far ahead officials must confirm and what happens when they do not. Agree whether officials may be assigned to teams they are connected to.
Check the handoff on an actual case
On Monday the coordinator assigns a referee and two assistants to Saturday’s Harbor against Rovers fixture. The referee and one assistant confirm the same day. By Thursday one assistant is still unconfirmed, and the assignment appears on the coordinator’s list.
The coordinator calls him, learns he is away, and assigns a replacement who confirms that evening. On Saturday the referee submits the 2 to 1 result after the match, and the Competition Secretary confirms it.
During the pilot, assign officials to a full weekend of fixtures and leave some unconfirmed. Check that the coordinator sees every unconfirmed assignment by Thursday and that no official is assigned to two overlapping fixtures.
Keep the official pool current in the people registry, with each official’s role title and active flag. An official who stops refereeing is marked inactive, so the coordinator does not assign them by mistake, while their past assignments and submitted results stay on record for the season.
