What you can do

Record what happened in each class

After each session the instructor records attendance for every enrolled learner: Present, Absent or Excused, with the time it was recorded. There is one attendance record per session and learner. Recording again for the same learner corrects the record instead of adding a second line, so attendance totals stay true.

Assessments belong to a course and carry a title, a due date and a maximum score. When a learner’s work is in, the instructor records the score. The score cannot exceed the assessment’s maximum. Results move from Submitted to Graded, and an Assessment Reviewer confirms each grade before it counts. Only then can an eligible enrollment be completed.

How the work is organized

  • One attendance line per learner per session. Corrections update that line.
  • Scores within the maximum. A score above the maximum is refused.
  • Reviewed before it counts. A graded result is confirmed by the reviewer before the enrollment completes.

What to agree during setup

Agree when attendance must be recorded, for example by the end of the day. Agree what counts as Excused and what evidence is needed. Agree the assessments for each course with their maximum scores and due dates. Decide who reviews grades and how disagreements are resolved.

Check the handoff on an actual case

On March 10 the instructor records Data Analysis 101 attendance: 18 present, one absent and one excused with a doctor’s note. Later she realizes one learner arrived late and marks them Present; the existing line is corrected and the total stays at 20 lines.

The mid-term project has a maximum of 50. The instructor enters 47 for one learner and tries 52 for another by mistake; the 52 is refused. She corrects it to 42. Both results are graded and the reviewer confirms them. At the end of term the learner with all results reviewed has the enrollment completed.

Rehearse both checks before go-live. Record attendance twice for the same learner and session and confirm only one line remains. Enter a score above the maximum and confirm it is refused. Then try to complete an enrollment whose results are graded but not yet reviewed, and confirm it stays active until the reviewer confirms.
