What you can do

Explain the amount and the operational result

A manufacturing load can incur linehaul, fuel surcharge, detention or other accessorial charges. Freight review keeps each amount connected to the load, its charge type and currency. The Freight Analyst checks the supporting transport and delivery evidence before approving a charge, then records invoicing and payment progress from the corresponding financial evidence.

The Freight charge review screen separates work still in Draft from Approved and Invoiced amounts. This gives the analyst a practical queue for resolving questions with the Dispatcher. The associated operation receipts explain which actions have completed and which remain Pending, Failed or in need of review, so a transport issue can be followed through to its recorded result.

How the work is organized

  • Check the charge. Record the charge type, amount, currency and load. Review an unusual detention or layover charge with the transport partner and the Dispatcher using the available event and delivery evidence.
  • Follow financial progress. Approve a supported draft, record the invoiced date when evidence is received and mark payment according to the agreed financial handoff. Keep voided charges identifiable so later reconciliation can explain their exclusion.
  • Resolve operation outcomes. Review receipts by action, external reference and responsible owner. Compare a reported success with the related business record and decision before considering the action complete. Keep a failed or uncertain result assigned for investigation.

What to agree during setup

Agree who authorizes freight charges and which financial system owns invoicing and payment. Decide how evidence from that system reaches the Freight Analyst. Different currencies need separate totals unless a reviewed conversion process is arranged with finance. A load’s requested quantity and its monetary charges answer different questions and should remain clearly labeled during review.

Choose an external-reference convention that helps the team locate the action or document behind an operation receipt. The review record identifies the source table, source record and source revision as well as the deciding person. Agree who investigates a mismatch and how the team communicates a correction without obscuring the earlier decision.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Use a delivered inbound load with a linehaul charge and a detention charge. The Freight Analyst reviews the detention request against the reported arrival, dock appointment and supporting document. The Dispatcher explains the delay and the analyst records the charge decision. An approved appointment establishes the reservation; it does not alone establish the duration or price of waiting.

Next, inspect a failed operation receipt for that load’s appointment review. Compare the appointment decision and its revision before retrying any action. If the decision is already present but the receipt is unresolved, investigate the recorded outcome with the responsible reviewer. Repeating a business decision simply to obtain a success message can leave conflicting evidence for the next reconciliation.

What your team sees

  • Freight charge review — Draft, approved and invoiced charges with load, charge type and currency.
  • Receipts needing attention — Pending, failed and review-needed outcomes with their action and owner.
  • Decision history — Review decisions tied to the exact source record and revision.
