Video Streaming Platform · Available now

Every asset reviewed, every minute watched accounted for.

Video Streaming Platform runs the operational record of a subscription video service, from the moment an asset is uploaded to the reconciliation of what its playback earned. The Content Operator records each video asset with its owner, organization and subscription plan, and starts processing for a specific revision.

Prepare the next release with Proto

Prepare and review asset releases, playback measurement and metrics with Proto.

It can

  • Content Operator: List assets in Processing whose transcode outcome is not complete, with their last run step.
  • Content Reviewer: Show pending review decisions with unverified evidence on the same asset.
  • Playback Operator: Group yesterday's rejected sessions by entitlement reference and title.
  • Revenue Reconciler: List reconciliations at Difference with the gap and currency.

Stays with a person

  • Publication decisions belong to the Content Reviewer and metric approvals to the Data Steward.
  • Proto works with the signed-in person's permissions and organization.
  • It can find exceptions, prepare drafts and explain a number's source; it does not approve a revision, publish a title or mark a reconciliation matched on anyone's behalf.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Agree the operating boundary

The app runs the asset pipeline, publication review, playback measurement, subscription plans, metrics, source data, reconciliation and corrections. The player, transcoder, delivery network, payment processor and analytics warehouse remain connected systems. Your reviewers and stewards decide publication and metric approval; Proto prepares information and configuration for review.

  2. Map the source data

Gather asset numbers, owners and plans, plan codes and effective dates, the playback event format and the settlement format. Write source mappings for each feed.

  3. Configure a bounded pilot

Pilot one organization and one month of new releases. Run every asset, session, metric and settlement through the app.

  4. Rehearse the exceptions

An operator must not approve their own revision. A replayed playback event must not create a second session. A stale snapshot must invalidate its results. A correction must keep the prior revision and stop on a duplicate request.

  5. Reconcile and release

Compare published titles, accepted watched minutes and settled amounts with your existing reports. Obtain sign-off from content, playback and revenue owners, keep an export of the source and agree the rollback window before cutover.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Video Streaming Platform.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Video Streaming Platform for your business. Pilot one organization and one month of new releases. Run every asset, session, metric and settlement through the app and reconcile with your existing reports before adding more regions.

Does it host or stream the video?

No. Your player, transcoder and delivery network stream the video. This app keeps the operational record: assets, transcode outcomes, review decisions, sessions, metrics and reconciliations.

Who approves a title for publication?

A Content Reviewer who did not prepare the revision. The decision is recorded against that exact revision with a reason.

What happens when the files change after approval?

The asset gets a new revision, which is processed and reviewed again before it is published.

How are watched minutes counted?

Each session records watched minutes from distinct intervals, so a rewind does not count the same minutes twice. Only accepted sessions feed the viewing figures.

How do subscription plans work?

Each asset is offered under a plan with an effective period. Playback is checked against the subscriber's entitlement for that plan, and sessions outside it are rejected.

Can we trust the metrics?

Each metric has an approved definition and version. Results name their period, source row count and run, and trace to a source snapshot marked fresh, stale or failed.

Can we fix a mistake after publication?

Yes. A correction keeps the earlier revision and its history, and adds a successor revision that is reviewed before it is published.

Can we migrate from spreadsheets?

Prepare asset numbers, owners, plans, people and sample playback and settlement files. Rehearse one month and reconcile it before extending the migration.

What drives the cost?

Ordinary manual use has no per-user charge under the platform policy. Imports, integrations, agent execution and other machine work consume prepaid credits; implementation is scoped separately. The pricing page lists the current rates.
