Distribution center yards
A distribution center often has arriving trailers waiting for a door while outbound loads need the same working space. The yard team needs to connect each physical trailer with its load and the warehouse work it supports. Start with the site's parking names and the people who decide when a submitted visit can proceed.
How Yard Management System is set up for you
Organize the arrival queue
Inventory Clerk captures trailer arrival and parking position before requesting a dock action. A load number gives the next shift a stable reference when several trailers share the same carrier.
Review the door decision
Transport Supervisor checks the current submitted evidence and dock availability. If the intended door is still occupied, the decision must reflect the conflict rather than relying on an earlier schedule.
Keep stock commitments visible
Inventory Supervisor reviews affected stock requests and held reservations when a load's scope changes. A cancelled request needs its reservation release checked before the stock is promised elsewhere.
Explain the handoff
Auditor follows the dock decision and operation receipts. A completed yard visit and a reconciled stock request answer different questions and should remain distinguishable during close.

Start with the site's parking names and the people who decide when a submitted visit can proceed.
Pilot an ordinary receiving shift with a known carrier, a named parking area and a dock used by the warehouse team. Include an early trailer that must wait, a rejected dock request and a stock quantity correction. Ask the incoming shift to identify every open visit and explain the next action from its records.
For example, trailer TR-418 may wait in P-07 while its stock request is reduced from 24 units to 18. Rehearse both the new dock decision and the released stock commitment. Expand only when the gate and warehouse teams agree on the same load and quantity history.
