What you can do
Make the outcome explainable to the next shift
Operations Overview brings review queues and failed operations alongside gate and dock position. The detail behind those queues matters when the team takes over unfinished work. Operation receipts retain the action, operation key and result, with a failure reason when available. Review decisions retain the reviewer and rationale. Attachments carry the supporting manifest, photo or other document with its load context.
Inventory Supervisor uses this evidence to reconcile stock requests against posted movements. Transport Supervisor uses it to follow the dock decision and authorized action. Auditor needs enough context to connect the decision and outcome without relying on the person who happened to be on shift when the action ran.
How the work is organized
- Follow the intended action. Use the operation key and parent load or source request to identify the work under investigation. Similar receipt subjects do not establish that separate records describe the same attempt.
- Separate decision and outcome. An approved review explains permission to proceed. The operation receipt and persisted effects explain what happened afterwards. Read both before reporting a completed handoff.
- Reconcile before verification. Compare the authorized request quantity with posted stock movement evidence. A mismatch produces a failed receipt and leaves the request unchanged, giving the supervisor a concrete exception to investigate.
What to agree during setup
Agree which supporting documents the team needs for a dock action and a delivery handoff. Decide who can see an attachment marked Internal or Shared, and test access with the actual operating accounts. An attachment title should help the reviewer recognize the case while the underlying load reference keeps it connected to the correct work.
Define how failed operations reach the responsible supervisor at shift handoff. Establish the meaning of the receipt status and result state together; an unresolved outcome should not disappear because someone has merely read the record. Preserve the stable operation key when repeating reconciliation so the retry cannot create another effect.
Check the handoff on an actual case
The clerk completes a dock action for load Y-204, but its related stock request fails reconciliation. Inventory Supervisor opens the failure reason and compares the posted movements with the authorized quantity. Transport Supervisor can still inspect the earlier dock approval without assuming that approval settled the stock discrepancy.
After the team resolves the underlying evidence, it repeats the reconciliation using the same request identity. Auditor checks that the repeated operation is handled consistently and that it has not duplicated a posting. The retained load attachments explain the physical handoff, while the stock receipt explains the inventory result. Each record answers a different part of the same operating question.
What your team sees
- Failed Operation Receipts — Failed receipts with the operation key, source context and reason needed for investigation.
- Review Decisions Register — Decision history with reviewer, rationale and source revision.
- Posted Movements — Posted quantity evidence for reconciling the authorized request.
Follow the work through
Use operation reconciliation for failures and retries. Departure to delivery evidence explains the evidence expected after the load leaves the yard.
