What you can do
Turn the plan into recorded work
A work order brings product, order and resource together with planned quantity, planned start and planned end. Its states distinguish Draft, Released, In progress, Quality review, Completed and Cancelled. Production Planner uses the release workflow to check the draft before the operator begins. Production Operator then records material issues and completed production intervals against the work order.
Release requires positive planned quantity, an approved linked order, an available resource and feasible dates. Each production resource records resource name, daily capacity in minutes and status. Review resource availability and the planned window with the people running the resource. Use the schedule to discuss what is ready and which work needs attention before release.
How the work is organized
- Eligible release. Prepare the work order in Draft and inspect order status and resource status with its dates. The guarded release moves it to Released once. Agree a separate controlled start action to record In progress when production actually begins.
- Material evidence. Identify the item and lot on the material issue and enter a positive quantity. The issue guard accepts work at Released or In progress and posts the issue once, keeping the work reference visible.
- Reported output. Capture the operator, start and end dates, and good and scrap units on each production interval. The production workflow requires In progress work with a planned quantity and nonnegative output before routing it to Quality review once.
What to agree during setup
Set the person-to-account mapping for operators before configuring My production intervals. Decide who can start work, who corrects a mistaken interval and how the team handles a Reversed material issue. Use a mistaken material issue and a corrected production interval in the rehearsal. Agree who makes each correction and how staff can explain the original entry afterwards.
Agree the revision handoff with engineering. Production Planner identifies the chosen released structure in the team’s instruction source and compares it with the planned product and demand. Ask the operator to find those instructions before starting. Agree the stock handoff with the balance owner, and test a machine connection separately if the team will use one.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use an example order that has been approved and a resource at Available. Prepare a positive planned quantity with a feasible planned start and planned end, then release the work order. Change the resource to Maintenance for a different draft and verify that release is blocked. Retry the successful release action and confirm that it cannot create another transition.
Start the eligible work through the agreed action, prepare an identified material issue and post it. Record an operator interval with good units and scrap units reflecting the demonstration run. A negative output value should fail the production guard. A valid submission moves the work to Quality review, where Quality Reviewer owns the next decision. Check the recorded interval and posted issue directly; have the quality reviewer inspect the batch separately and the stock owner reconcile the material balance.
What your team sees
- Production schedule — Released, running and quality-review work with planned dates.
- Work order release inbox — Drafts whose release prerequisites need attention.
- My production intervals — Output reported by the authenticated operator.
Follow the work through
Production to quality release follows the release and inspection handoff. Rehearse permissions and review implementation before using live work.
