What you can do

Give the reviewer a reproducible commercial amount

Quote Specialist prepares a Draft quote with its customer, validity date and price book revision. Each line carries the product code, quantity, unit price in USD, discount in USD and unit cost in USD. The pricing action checks the expected quote revision and line values before calculating the net line amounts and quote total.

The line calculation multiplies quantity by unit price and subtracts the line discount. The quote net amount is the sum of those net line values. Successful pricing moves the quote to Review so Pricing Reviewer can decide the commercial proposal with the resulting amount and revision in view.

How the work is organized

  • Draft preparation. Keep the offer subject, customer and validity date clear. Set the price book revision used for the offer and check that each line belongs to the intended quote before requesting pricing.
  • Line economics. Enter the quantity, unit price, discount and cost for each proposed product. Review the discount as a line amount in USD so the calculation is understood consistently. Keep line numbers useful for tracing the customer’s requested equipment.
  • Guarded pricing. Submit the Draft quote and expected revision to the pricing action. Organization, state and revision checks happen alongside line validation. A successful result supplies the calculated amounts and moves the quote to commercial review.

What to agree during setup

Agree who supplies the authoritative product prices and which price book revision identifies a quoted offer. If those values come from another system, configure that connection and its ownership during implementation. Set an import and review routine that keeps the line values understandable to both preparer and reviewer.

Decide how the team checks quantities and discounts before submission. Preserve the USD basis of the line and quote amounts when presenting an organization that uses another currency. Define any customer document conversion as a setup decision with an identified exchange-rate source and effective date.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Use a rehearsal line for controller hardware with quantity 3, unit price USD 800 and line discount USD 120. The expected net line amount is USD 2,280. Add another line and calculate the expected quote total independently before running pricing.

Quote Specialist runs the action against the current Draft revision. Compare the calculated lines and quote amount with the rehearsal calculation, then confirm that the quote is in Review. Repeat with an old expected revision and an invalid line value. Resolve the rejected input before requesting another successful run. Pricing Reviewer should receive the current offer with the exact values used to reach its total.

Keep the compatibility decision with the quote evidence when an option depends on controller selection. Commercial pricing should remain traceable without treating the technical approval as commercial authorization.
