Create your account

Click Get started and use Proto to configure Database Administration for your business. Identify the Service Manager, Database Administrator, Backup Reviewer, Incident Responder and approvers who will work in the first cycle. Review roles together before assigning decisions.

Prepare the first operating cycle

Choose a service with a known owner, host asset and database instance. Confirm the database name, engine, version and person responsible. Record a recent backup run against that instance and have the reviewer check the outcome and restore-test evidence. Then rehearse an incident against the service and host, a change with a planned window and rollback plan, and a submitted service request.

Review before release

Have each owner inspect the record they will use. The responder should recognize the affected asset and assignment. The change approver should be able to decide from the risk, schedule and rollback. The request approver should see the requester and service. Check the implementation sequence, data model and connections before widening access.
