What you can do
Reconciliation in daily work
Journal lines hold source event IDs, occurrence dates, amounts and account references. The reviewer compares each movement with a confirmed instruction linked to the same account. An exact amount and occurrence date are required for a match. Exceptions remain visible instead of being pushed into a matched state to make a balance appear clean.
How the work is organized
- Identify the work. Keep each provider movement’s event ID and account identity.
- Keep the evidence. Compare only with a Confirmed instruction linked to the same account.
- Handle the result. Use exact amount and confirmed occurrence date before changing a movement to Matched.
What to agree during setup
Use provider balance snapshots for a dated account comparison. The as-of date and snapshot identifier make the comparison reproducible. Agree how signed confirmed movements affect opening and closing balances and how a reviewer investigates a difference. Keep the provider event ID intact so repeat imports can be recognized.
Agree which provider event ID is authoritative and how signed confirmed movements affect account balances. Preserve the as-of date and provider snapshot ID. The Accounting Reviewer should be able to reproduce an unmatched decision from the source date and amount.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Take a confirmed instruction and a provider event for the same account. Compare amount and confirmed date before matching. Then change the provider event date in a rehearsal: leave that event unmatched or mark it exceptional, and show the difference in the account snapshot review.
Take a movement and a Confirmed instruction linked to the same account. Compare the US dollar amount with the confirmed provider event and compare the occurrence dates. Mark the movement Matched only if both agree. Change the event date in a second case, leave it Unmatched or Exception, and investigate the dated account snapshot separately.
A match requires a Confirmed instruction and a movement on the same account. The reviewer should use the provider event’s occurrence date, not the date someone entered the movement. Keep a different date or amount open for investigation and preserve the source event ID for any later correction.
