ERP.AI
Design an integration you can operate.
A dependable connection has a clear data contract, predictable failure handling, and someone responsible for its results.
Write the data contract before the connector.
List the business event, source record, destination record, and the fields that should move. Identify the authoritative system for each field. Keep a source identifier alongside the destination reference so an operator can trace a transaction without guessing from a display name.
Define required fields, allowed values, units, currency, date handling, and relationships. Decide whether the connection creates records, updates them, or only reads them. Include the expected result when a reference is missing or a record is no longer active.
Scope the identity to the operation.
Use the current platform reference to configure the appropriate environment, credentials, and app context. Resolve the actual app identifier through authenticated discovery. A public catalogue slug is a product route, not a substitute for an account-specific app identifier.
Store credentials outside page source, shared files, and logs. Test a permitted operation and an operation that should be rejected. Check that failures remain visible to the operator without exposing a secret.
Make repetition and partial failure deliberate.
Duplicate delivery
Choose a stable event or source reference and a deduplication strategy. Do not assume that retrying a write is harmless.
Transient failure
Use bounded retries and respect documented limits. Preserve enough context to inspect the final failure.
Business rejection
Route invalid or incomplete data to review instead of retrying the same rejected change indefinitely.
Reconciliation
Compare source and destination using identifiers, counts, and appropriate totals. Include a path to investigate differences.
Complete an operational acceptance test.
Test a valid record, a missing dependency, a duplicate event, a denied caller, and a temporary outage. For external side effects, verify the receiving system’s result separately from the originating workflow state.
Record the owner, deployment environment, configuration location, alert route, credential rotation procedure, and recovery steps. Review these when the schema, permissions, or connected service changes.
