Prepare the next stock case with Proto

Prepare allocation evidence and inspect operation results with Proto under the team's permissions.

It can

  • Inventory Clerk: Find the request's item, location and held lot quantities before preparing its next supported action.
  • Inventory Supervisor: Show the current request revision and policy guidance, then prepare the evidence for a decision.
  • Auditor: Follow the compensation back to its original movement and compare the operation receipts.
  • App Administrator: Check that each team member is linked to the correct platform account before using the owner worklist.

Stays with a person

  • Inventory Supervisor owns the request decision and authorized corrections.
  • Proto can prepare information and run permitted actions; it cannot grant itself approval authority or turn an uncertain response into a verified stock effect.
  • Preserve stable operation identities and inspect the result before retrying.
  • Table visibility is not workflow execution permission.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Agree the operating case

Inventory Supervisor chooses the pilot items and locations, explains channel policy interpretation and defines the base unit. Rehearse an eligible lot and a condition exception. Agree the authorized quantity and the evidence the clerk needs for the next action.

  2. Prepare references and balances

App Administrator checks the organization and each team member’s platform account mapping. Inventory Clerk prepares stock items, storage locations and stock lots. Reconcile opening quantities and current Held reservations at the declared cutoff without replaying historical movement effects.

  3. Configure the work views

Agree the review filter and audience for Review Queue. Set Stock Requests Register to Draft requests owned by the signed-in clerk for preparation. Connect the request owner to the correct platform account. Review Load Stops Schedule using the actual appointment date and assign responsibility for a missed stop.

  4. Rehearse the stock cycle

Review the current request revision, reserve within free stock and repeat an accepted posting to confirm that it changes stock only once. Include a shortfall, a stale review, authorized cancellation and repeated reversal. Inventory Supervisor verifies quantity agreement and Auditor inspects retained failure evidence.

  5. Review access and connections

Rehearse permitted and refused actions under each person’s account. Agree user-access responsibility during setup. Test external identifiers and reconciliation behavior before enabling connected work.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Inventory Allocation Engine.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Inventory Allocation Engine for your business. Pilot a reviewed request against known opening lots and held quantities, then rehearse reservation, posting and a failed completion check before expanding the item range.

How does the supervisor use a channel policy?

Inventory Supervisor reviews the channel, priority rank and safety-stock guidance before deciding the requested quantity. Agree how the clerk communicates the source channel and retain the rationale with the request. That explanation helps the next shift understand why the quantity was authorized.

How do we agree the safety-stock quantity?

Agree the buffer in the item's base unit and review it alongside existing Held quantities. Inventory Supervisor settles the amount the request may use and records the reason. The reservation action then checks its claim against the eligible lot quantity still free after active holds.

Can a reservation exceed the stock still free?

The reservation workflow refuses that claim and writes a Failed operation receipt with the shortfall. Approval of demand does not increase supply. Inspect the lot, existing Held quantities and the operation result before correcting scope or waiting for separately evidenced stock.

What happens when an operation is repeated?

Stock execution uses a stable source effect key derived from the request. Reservation uses a stable request-and-lot operation key, and review and reconciliation have their own stable keys. Repeat the same intended operation with its original identity and inspect the earlier result instead of generating an unexplained new action.

Can the supervisor decide an older request revision?

The review workflow refuses stale revisions and already Executed or Cancelled requests. Inventory Supervisor should reload the current scope before recording the decision. Each review decision retains the outcome and rationale against its source record.

How are cancellation and reversal different?

Authorized correction or cancellation releases held reservations and restores free stock. A posted movement uses the reversal workflow, which posts a compensation and retains the original unchanged. Request cancellation alone is not evidence that the physical stock effect was reversed.

What should we check when a load departs?

Record the actual load state and retain the handling-unit evidence, then inspect the stock request's movement and operation receipt. Completion verification compares posted movement quantity with authorized demand. If they disagree, Inventory Supervisor resolves the case through supported correction or reversal work.

What does Operations Overview help us decide?

Operations Overview brings stock on hand and available quantity together with pending review decisions and failed operation receipts. Inventory Supervisor can choose the allocation needing attention, inspect its request and lot evidence, then decide the next permitted action.

How do we estimate machine-work costs?

Use the platform rates in pricing with the expected imports, agent actions and connected operations. Ordinary manual work and machine work follow the published platform policy; implementation is estimated separately for the agreed operating scope.
