What you can do
Keep stock movements tied to production evidence
Production Operator or Production Planner issues materials against a work order and an exact item and lot. The guarded issue command checks the work-order state, matching inventory balance and unit compatibility. It posts the issue and decrements that balance once, giving the production team a clear record of the stock consumed.
Finished output follows a separate decision. Quality Reviewer assesses the production evidence and authorizes eligible output. The authorized executor runs the guarded release, which refuses Held or Rejected batches and receives eligible good output into finished stock once, excluding any quantity already received. Completion also requires the full required scope under Quality Review.
How the work is organized
- Material selection. The issuer checks the item, lot and quantity before posting. Insufficient stock rejects the whole command, so the team resolves the shortage before expecting consumption to appear in the balance.
- Disposition review. Quality Reviewer examines the produced lot and linked work order. A batch marked Held or Rejected cannot pass through the accepted-output release action merely because the production count looks complete.
- Receipt reconciliation. Production Planner checks the release outcome against the finished balance and the work-order scope. An identical retry returns the original outcome without receiving the same output again.
What to agree during setup
Agree item units, lot conventions and inventory locations before the first issue. Decide who may run the posting commands and how the team handles a rejected request. Keep purchase-order follow-up with Production Planner when a material shortage affects release readiness.
Set the output acceptance responsibility and the required production scope. Identify the authorized release executor and the handoff from Quality Reviewer to that person. Decide how the team brings work into Quality Review and how it documents an unresolved disposition. Confirm that OEE evidence review and stock acceptance are discussed separately even when the same people attend the meeting.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a rehearsal work order that consumes a named material lot. Post an issue for an available quantity, check the exact balance, and repeat the identical command. The balance should reflect the original posting only. Then attempt an issue beyond available stock and confirm that no partial consumption is recorded.
Next, review a produced batch marked Held. Run the accepted-output path and confirm that it refuses the release. Use a separate eligible Pending batch with good output that is eligible for receipt and has not yet entered finished stock, obtain the reviewer’s decision and execute release. Check the Released disposition and the finished-stock result, then repeat the command. Finally, confirm that work remains incomplete when the required output scope under Quality Review has not been satisfied.
What your team sees
- Material Issue Queue — Draft issues awaiting a lot, quantity and work-order check before posting.
- Batch Disposition Board — Pending, Held and Rejected lots that need attention before output release.
- Stock by Item and Lot — Positive balances by item, location and lot for receipt reconciliation.
Follow the work through
Rehearse accept output and receive stock. Establish stock conventions during implementation and document external accounting handoffs under integrations.
