What you can do
See which resource can take the work
Each resource record holds resource name, daily capacity minutes and status. The resource reference links the planned production instruction to that resource, while planned start and planned end describe the intended interval. Production Planner checks this context before invoking the release action, including whether the resource is Available and whether another run overlaps it.
The dashboard can help the team discuss a conflicting plan using actual work order references. The daily capacity value helps define the planning basis, but it does not by itself describe breaks, shift patterns or holidays. Agree those planning assumptions during configuration before interpreting a displayed interval as a commitment.
How the work is organized
The work release action includes feasible non-overlapping schedule checks on the exact draft being released. The resource label and status should be reviewed alongside the full interval. A favorable position on a work order board cannot make an unavailable resource eligible.
- Availability context. Review Available, Maintenance and Unavailable as the resource’s exact status choices.
- Interval comparison. Compare planned start and planned end for work assigned to the same resource.
- Controlled release. Let the guarded planner action enforce the release prerequisites using the frozen inputs.
What to agree during setup
Document the operating timezone and the precision represented by the stored planning dates. Confirm the release workflow’s interpretation of interval boundaries during the pilot. Rehearse boundary cases with the planner and operator so both understand which planned intervals are accepted and how the dates display.
Choose the person responsible for keeping resource name, daily capacity minutes and status current. Production Planner can prepare eligible setup changes within the configured restrictions; active configuration amendments require review. Keep maintenance availability current so the planner can identify work that needs another interval or resource.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A resource has a released work order covering the morning planning interval. The planner prepares another draft whose start occurs before the first interval ends. Attempt release and confirm the work release action rejects the overlap. Keep both work order identities visible so the team can explain why the second run needs another interval.
The planner proposes a replacement interval and checks its end as well as its start. Rehearse release with the resource marked Maintenance, then repeat with it Available under the reviewed setup. The valid path still needs the approved order and positive planned quantity; resolving the calendar conflict cannot satisfy unrelated prerequisites.
Review the same resource with dated production targets. The target’s planned minutes provide the planning basis; they do not automatically allocate a work order interval. Compare the shared resource and product context carefully. The target gives the output expectation; the work order interval gives the planned production instruction.
What your team sees
Configure these views to support the release discussion:
- Resource availability — Read the resource name, daily capacity and current availability status.
- Work order schedule — Inspect both planned interval boundaries for drafts and active released work.
- Production targets by date — Review dated output expectations for the selected resource and product.
Follow the work through
Use draft to released work to test conflicting intervals. Agree the planning assumptions in implementation and retain the field definitions in the data model.
