Ask Proto about the work behind the status

Ask for help tracing package progress, inspection decisions and exceptions.

It can

  • Public Works Manager: Show packages in review with their owner, due date and latest decision.
  • Package Owner: Compare planned and actual task hours for a selected package and identify unfinished lines.
  • Field Inspector: Gather the parent package and attachments before recording a submitted observation.
  • Independent Reviewer: Show the submitted revision, supporting evidence and earlier decisions before a new decision.

Stays with a person

  • Proto can prepare a comparison and point to source records.
  • A person still decides whether evidence supports acceptance or certification.
  • The responsible reviewer must approve a submitted inspection; the manager decides accepted package scope.
  • A receipt with an uncertain result requires a read-first investigation before another action.

  2. Plan work

Choose a representative project, name a package owner, enter the due date and hour budget, and sequence its task lines.

  3. Review delivery

Attach a field record, complete the tasks and have an independent reviewer decide the submitted revision.

  4. Inspect the result

Record location, time, contractor and accepted quantity; rehearse both approval and rejection.

  5. Reconcile outcomes

Compare pending or uncertain receipts with their local effects before expanding to more work.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Public Works Department.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Public Works Department for your business. Begin with one agency project, one owned work package, its task lines and a representative field inspection.

What is a work package?

It is the scoped job record with a record number, agency, project counterparty, owner, due date, hour budget and revision. Tasks, attachments, inspections, decisions and operation receipts connect to it.

How do I track contractor work?

Record the contracted project and contact under its agency, then link it as the counterparty on each package. Task hours and field evidence show delivery against the package.

Who accepts completed work?

An Independent Reviewer records a decision on the package revision and evidence. The Public Works Manager checks complete scope before marking the package Accepted.

How is an inspection different from acceptance?

A package acceptance covers reviewed delivery. A field inspection records location, contractor, time and accepted quantity for that work, with its own submitted revision and decision.

Does certification trigger payment?

Certification records the reviewed quantity. Connect the agency's finance process separately for any payment decision.

What happens when a task is late?

The owner and manager can inspect due tasks and package commitments. The Operations Overview also shows overdue tasks by owner with links back to the source record.

How do we handle a rejected inspection?

Retain the reason and source revision, correct the observation or evidence, and submit a new revision for independent review.

What if an operation result is uncertain?

Open its receipt and compare the original operation key, expected revision and linked local effects. Keep a specific discrepancy visible until the analyst can reconcile it.

Can we change an accepted package?

Separate future unexecuted scope from accepted work. Keep the original evidence and decision, and route any compensating action through independent review.
