Risk Management · Available now

Keep project risks visible through the next decision.

A project manager records each risk against a project, names an owner, scores likelihood and impact, and writes the mitigation. The risk register gives the delivery lead a place to review open exposure beside project status, dated checkpoints and assigned work.

From concern to reviewed response

Risk identification to reviewed action ships ready to use. One step needs a named approval before the work moves on: Approve time (Time Approver).

Drag a card to another stage, or focus it and use the arrow keys. It updates to match the stage.

Prepare the next review with Proto

Use Proto to prepare project risk reviews and inspect the next decision.

It can

  • Project Manager: Prepare the next checkpoint from open risks, blocked tasks and current escalations on the project.
  • Risk Owner: Summarize assigned risks by likelihood, impact and mitigation alongside their project checkpoints.
  • Delivery Lead: Find Open escalations that need severity and Fixed escalations awaiting verification.
  • Time Approver: Bring submitted entries with work date, project and hours into a review list.

Stays with a person

  • A person decides whether a mitigation is sufficient, whether a reported fix is verified and whether submitted time is approved.
  • The assistant can prepare the records for that person and show the operation result after an action.
  • It should not interpret a failed receipt as a successful decision or close a risk solely because a task reached Done.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Set ownership

Name the Project Manager, Risk Owner, Delivery Lead, Time Approver and Evidence Reviewer for the pilot project. Establish access before entering sensitive work.

  2. Load context

Add the organization, project, team members, work package and current tasks. Confirm that dates and owners represent the actual delivery plan.

  3. Review exposure

Enter active risks with categories, likelihood, impact and mitigation. Schedule a checkpoint that will lead to a real decision.

  4. Rehearse exceptions

Triage an Open issue with severity, then try a missing-severity case. Submit positive hours, then try an invalid entry. Inspect both successful and failed receipts.

  5. Open the cycle

Review the risk assessment, blocked work, checkpoint outcome and time decision with the named owners. Expand after the records tell a consistent story.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Risk Management.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Risk Management for your business. Start with one active project, its current risks, a dated review checkpoint and the people who own the decisions.

Where does a risk belong?

Record it in risk register against the affected project. Name an owner and assess likelihood and impact before writing the mitigation.

How do issues differ from risks?

Escalations track current defects and change items. Risk register tracks project exposure and its mitigation. Review an issue's effect on risk when it changes the project outlook.

What happens when an issue is triaged?

An Open issue with severity moves to Triaged and an operation receipt records the outcome. A changed status or missing severity blocks the action and records failure.

How do we follow mitigation work?

Use the risk's mitigation and owner alongside project work packages and assigned tasks. Review the risk separately when the task changes state.

How do checkpoints help?

A checkpoint gives a project review a due date, owner and Met or Missed outcome. Use it to bring current exposure and work into the next decision.

Who approves project hours?

Submitting an entry triggers the approval workflow. It checks positive hours and current status, then records the decision and receipt. The Time Approver reviews the result and failed attempts.

What does a failed receipt mean?

The attempted operation did not pass its guard. Open the subject record, inspect its present values and correct the cause before retrying.

Can we attach supporting files?

Record Attachments can hold a file name, URL, kind and parent record reference. Check access to the linked file as part of your setup.
