What you can do
Reservations and movements in daily work
Reservations claim eligible free quantity for an exact request, item and location. A movement is the posted signed quantity effect. Both retain the source request; a movement may also identify its lot and a movement it reverses. The request, decision and resulting records give each person a way to trace what changed and who acted.
For an approved issue, claim the required quantity at the selected location and lot. When the part is issued, consume the claim and post a signed movement. If the effect is wrong, add a compensating movement linked to the first instead of editing the posted original.
How the work is organized
- Set the scope. Start with the organization and part, then confirm the request location and any lot used for the case.
- Keep the decision. Inventory Reviewer checks the submitted revision and records a decision with a reason.
- Trace the effect. Inventory Coordinator follows the reservation or posted movement back to the approved request.
What to agree during setup
Agree unit conventions, how eligible stock is checked, when reservations expire, and how lot release and expiry influence selection. Decide how a move between locations is represented and how reversal authority is reviewed. Inventory Coordinator and Inventory Reviewer should rehearse the usual case and an exception using the same request.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Start with an approved request for a specific item and location. Reserve eligible quantity, then post the issue. Check the reservation state, signed quantity, posted marker and request link. Rehearse a correction and follow its Reverses link to the original movement. Inventory Coordinator shows the source request; Inventory Reviewer explains the decision on its revision. Auditor traces the outcome without changing records. Pause a case with a mismatched item, location, lot or revision before another action.
A claimed quantity and a posted change answer different questions. In the pilot, compare the active reservation with the available quantity at the selected location, then compare the posted signed movement with the request. If the receipt is uncertain, Inventory Reviewer follows its effect references before anyone repeats the action.
