Prepare the work with Proto

Use Proto to configure audit work and prepare evidence for human review.

It can

  • Auditor: Prepare the assessment period and a draft engagement from the agreed audit scope, then organize the sample descriptions for review.
  • Audit Manager: Summarize findings waiting for approval and point to their evidence references and response dates.
  • Control Owner: Prepare a corrective response using the finding context and the evidence supplied by the owner.
  • Independent Assurance Reviewer: Bring together the retest workpaper and related finding so the reviewer can record a reasoned judgment.

Stays with a person

  • The Audit Manager makes the approval and release decisions.
  • The Independent Assurance Reviewer evaluates the follow-up evidence.
  • Give the assistant the agreed scope and confirm document access before relying on a summary.
  • Any connection to an external source system needs the responsible person's setup and authorization.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Agree the pilot

Select a business unit and assessment period. The Audit Manager defines the audit subject, expected evidence and response arrangements. A supplier access review is a useful starting case when its participants and documents are available.

  2. Prepare the directories

Admin checks organization identities and audited entities, then prepares team access. Agree who will act as Auditor, Audit Manager and Control Owner, and identify the Independent Assurance Reviewer for follow-up work.

  3. Prepare the working records

Load the control descriptions and create the assessment. Prepare a Draft engagement with the relevant entity and organization. Review sample descriptions before importing further test detail.

  4. Rehearse the decisions

Issue an engagement and inspect its receipt. Prepare a finding, practice a Return decision, then complete a supported approval. Prepare a response and have the Audit Manager authorize release.

  5. Review follow-up evidence

Record a retest sample and reasoned decision. Test evidence access under normal accounts and investigate an operation exception with the person responsible for it.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Audit Management.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Audit Management for your business. Begin with a bounded assessment period, an audited entity and a supplier access review that exercises finding approval and corrective response release.

What should an assessment contain?

Record the subject, audit year and period dates. Use the scope statement to explain the activity being examined so the Auditor can decide which findings belong to that exercise.

How is an engagement issued?

The Auditor prepares the Draft engagement and checks its organization, audited entity and audit area. The issue action moves it to Sent and records an operation receipt for the team to inspect.

Who approves a finding?

Configure the Audit Manager as the finding approver. The Auditor prepares the description and evidence reference; the Audit Manager reads the support and records the decision through the review action.

How does a management response move forward?

The Control Owner prepares a Scheduled corrective action with a response date and evidence. The Audit Manager authorizes release, then inspects the Released record and its operation result.

Where does follow-up evidence go?

Record the sample and explanation in a retest workpaper linked to the finding and control. The Independent Assurance Reviewer records a reasoned judgment against the related finding or corrective action.

Can the team use its document repository?

Yes. Set up access to the chosen repository and retain its document URLs in evidence attachments. Test those links under the reviewer's normal account during the pilot.

How do we investigate an uncertain action result?

Open Operation Exceptions and inspect the receipt's result, operation key and failure reason. Compare the current engagement, finding or response before deciding whether another action is needed.

What should we bring to implementation?

Bring organization identities, control descriptions and a representative audit case with accessible evidence. Name the people preparing the work and making the decisions, then use the implementation plan to rehearse their handoffs.
