  1. 01Fitment Coverage

Group vehicle fitments by Part, Make, Model and model year, keeping Review, Verified and Withdrawn evidence separate.

  2. 02Warranty Claim Exposure

Sum claim amount by Part and Status over failure date, retaining vehicle VIN for authorized investigation without treating Approved as Paid.

  3. 03Shortage Action List

List MRP exceptions with Status = 'Open' by exception type, need date, quantity short and Owner to identify unresolved supply actions.

  4. 04Work Order Quantity Variance

Compare quantity ordered, quantity completed and quantity scrapped on work orders against their planned end and current Status.

  5. 05Operation Timing

Compare planned start and planned end with actual start and actual end on work order operations by work center and work order.

  6. 06Production Yield

Calculate good output as a share of quantity good plus quantity scrapped from completed production log intervals, reporting a zero denominator as unavailable.

  7. 07Supplier Receipt Performance

Group supplier performance by Supplier and receipt date using on time, quantity accurate, inspection result and price variance.

  8. 08Inventory Standard Value

Group inventory quantity on hand by Warehouse and Product using product standard cost, and reconcile the result with relevant posted journal entry lines.

  9. 09Customer Invoice Balance

List customer invoices by Customer, due date, amount outstanding and Status to distinguish unpaid balances from credited or settled invoices.

Prepare daily work with Proto

Prepare part, production and claim evidence for the people who make the decisions.

It can

  • Production Planner: List open planning exceptions by need date and owner, then explain the linked supply action for the selected product.
  • Shop Floor Supervisor: Compare good output and scrap in completed production intervals and identify the work order behind an exception in Production Overview.
  • Buyer: Prepare the submitted purchase commitment and its approved requisition for independent review without making the approval decision.
  • Quality Inspector: List on hold material with its scope, inspection evidence and pending disposition.

Stays with a person

  • Proto uses the team member's permitted identity and actions.
  • Human approvals remain with the assigned deciding person.
  • Industry Reviewer checks the vehicle compatibility and claim evidence; Approver checks the assigned purchase or payment decision.
  • The assistant can gather and explain the case, but payment confirmation and eligibility still need the agreed evidence and responsible person.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Agree the operating boundary

Choose a part and vehicle application the team can verify. Include parts production and claim review where used. Agree the vehicle compatibility decision and the evidence the team needs to make a warranty outcome explainable.

  2. Map source identities

Prepare part number, employee and warehouse mappings, bill and routing versions, lot evidence and opening accounting balances. Agree the sale evidence needed for claim review and the connection used to confirm payout.

  3. Agree responsibilities and decisions

Name the people preparing purchasing and specialty evidence, then name the independent reviewers. Rehearse their decision limits with ordinary accounts. Assign the planner’s personal queue and confirm who handles production reporting and stock movements.

  4. Rehearse the first cycle

Use approved demand, a component shortage, an inspected receipt and terminal-operation output. Test repeated intake, purchase conversion, receipt, completion, shipment and posting commands. Add a fitment review and rejected claim; keep missing evidence and denied access visible.

  5. Reconcile and release the agreed scope

Compare stock quantities, commitments, invoice balances and posted accounts with the source. Check a Locked accounting period refusal and a named reopen action. Obtain the business owners’ acceptance of the observed outcomes before opening routine work or enabling external feeds.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Automotive ERP.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure ERP for Automotive for your business. Pilot a real part, its vehicle-year fitment and an approved customer order through production and shipment. Include a warranty review case and reconcile inventory and finance before expanding.

What vehicle information does fitment review use?

Vehicle fitments record part, make, model and model year with fitment status Review, Verified or Withdrawn. Industry Specialist prepares the evidence and Industry Reviewer reviews compatibility through the agreed controlled action. A new vehicle-year application needs its own evidence.

What does a warranty claim contain?

Warranty claims record vehicle VIN, part, failure date, claim amount and status. The success path moves Submitted through Inspection and Approved to Paid. Rejection is separate. Agree required inspection evidence and confirmed payout handling before enabling that final transition.

What should the reviewer check before approving a claim?

Check the selected part, vehicle VIN, failure date and requested amount together. Agree which sale evidence the warranty policy requires and who prepares it. Set up payout confirmation as a connection so the team can distinguish the approved decision from the confirmed payment.

What should we pilot first?

Choose a part whose vehicle application, bill and operation sequence the team can explain. Include a component shortage, inspected receipt, partial shipment and claim review. Ask the planner, quality inspector and accountant to reconcile the same production case before expanding.

How does production planning work?

The planning action uses bill requirements, available inventory and open purchasing or production to prepare planned orders and planning exceptions. Production Planner reviews suggestions and shortage actions before releasing work orders. Confirm calendar and supply rules against the plant's actual cases.

What prevents held material from being used?

Quality holds record the affected lot, receipt or work order operation. The control blocks issue, completion or shipment while the hold applies. Quality Inspector records the disposition and authorized release; rehearse the denial through the operational action before relying on it.

Who can approve purchasing and specialty decisions?

Approver handles the assigned purchasing and control decisions. Industry Reviewer handles specialty evidence and the claim outcome. Agree decision limits and escalation during setup, then rehearse independent review with the person who prepared the case.

Can we connect scanners, carriers and our bank?

Yes. Agree the source mapping, permitted actors and confirmation rules when setting up each connection. Repeated device or transport events must not repeat receipt, shipment, payment or posting effects.

How do we change the system and review costs?

Use Proto to prepare the change and rehearse its affected permissions and rejection cases before activation. Review the implementation plan for the first operating cycle and pricing for platform usage and implementation work.
