Ask for the next record

Give each role help with records and next actions.

It can

  • Accounting Preparer: List owned draft documents with missing supporting evidence for review.
  • Accounting Reviewer: Summarize the current revision, counterparty, amount and attachments before an independent decision.
  • Finance Lead: Surface unmatched movements and unresolved operation receipts with source references.
  • Auditor: Trace a document through its decision, journal lines and account item.

Stays with a person

  • A suggested next action is not an approval or proof of posting.
  • The named reviewer decides the frozen revision; the finance team verifies persisted effects and provider evidence.
  • Keep access scoped to the user's organization.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Set scope

Choose one organization, its preparers, reviewer, auditor and administrator. Confirm active membership and independent decision authority.

  2. Load masters

Bring in partners and ledger accounts with stable codes, currency and provider identifiers. Set an opening account snapshot.

  3. Prepare a case

Create a numbered document with counterparty, owner, amount, line detail and attachment.

  4. Rehearse decisions

Approve an unchanged revision with a separate reviewer; reject self-approval and a changed revision.

  5. Verify effects

Post a balanced journal and compare an exact provider movement with its source document. Leave a wrong-date or wrong-amount item open.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Legal Billing & Time Tracking.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Legal Billing & Time Tracking for your business. Pilot one organization, a reviewed document and one account reconciliation cycle.

Who prepares accounting documents?

An Accounting Preparer owns a draft and links the counterparty, amount, lines and attachments.

Who decides a document revision?

An independent Accounting Reviewer records a decision, reason and time against the revision under review.

Can an administrator approve financial work?

App Administrator maintains organizations, partners and membership; financial decisions belong to the reviewer.

How are journal movements represented?

Debit and credit journal lines link a document to ledger accounts. Check that the legs balance and the effect is recorded.

What makes a movement match?

The account, exact amount and confirmed occurrence date must agree with the linked document.

What happens to a discrepancy?

The item remains unmatched or becomes an exception for Finance Lead investigation, with its source identifier retained.

How can an auditor review the cycle?

Auditor access follows documents, attachments, decisions, receipts, journal lines and reconciled items without editing them.

How do I plan a pilot?

Use the implementation plan and rehearse both an accepted case and a deliberately rejected case.
