What you can do

Operations overview

Operations Overview gives the team a control tower view of active container freight, on-time performance, review pressure and operational exceptions. It is useful at the start of a shift: the Dispatcher can move from a broad signal to the load, booking or receipt that needs work.

The overview is grounded in the same records as the registers. Loads carry promised and actual delivery dates. Bookings carry ETA, free days and status. Operation receipts carry result state and failure reason. Review decisions carry the reviewer and reason. The team should open those records before acting on a summary.

How the work is organized

  • Scan active freight. Start with loads whose promise or booking needs attention.
  • Open review work. Send a submitted booking to its independent supervisor.
  • Trace exceptions. Open the failed receipt and linked load before choosing a correction.

What to agree during setup

Agree the operating organization and time zone used for a shift review. Decide who owns booking follow-up and who handles failed action reconciliation. Train the team to distinguish a vessel estimate from a confirmed pickup or delivery timestamp, especially when reading on-time results.

Start with a load whose delivery promise is approaching. Check its booking ETA and whether the booking awaits review. Then inspect any failed receipt before deciding whether dispatch can continue. The overview should guide that conversation; the load and linked evidence remain the place to record the action.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A Dispatcher sees a late vessel estimate beside an open booking review. The Transport Supervisor opens the submitted booking and its revision. If a receipt failed on the same load, the supervisor reads the reason and attachments first. The next shift can follow the load status and preserved promise without reconstructing the case from messages.

At shift change, the Dispatcher opens the same load in the register to see its promise and owner. The Transport Supervisor checks the decision register and failed receipt before returning a case for correction. The overview points to work; the linked records preserve the decision and outcome.

Use the booking register to distinguish a submitted review from an approved booking. If the ETA changes, compare it with the load’s promised date and actual events. This keeps the shift conversation anchored to the shipment rather than a summary signal.

What your team sees

  • Delivery exceptions — Open loads marked for operating attention.
  • Bookings awaiting review — Find submitted container decisions.
  • Failed operations — Inspect action results before reconciliation.

Follow the work through

Read the operating process and the related handoff. Set up roles and rehearse the case in implementation.

What it keeps track of

Data model
Loads
Represents a freight shipment, tracking its pickup, delivery, and billing from start to finish.
Container bookings
Tracks a container booked on a vessel, following its shipment from booking through arrival.
Operation receipts
Records the result of an action taken in the system, for audit and troubleshooting later.
Review decisions
Logs an approval or rejection made during a review, recording who decided what and why.
Load assignments
Assigns a driver and vehicle to a load, so dispatch knows who's hauling what and when.

Who uses it

Permissions
Dispatcher
Uses the overview to prioritize work.
Transport Supervisor
Handles review and failed receipts.
