Prepare the next handoff with Proto

Use Proto to prepare scoped requests, evidence and review handoffs.

It can

  • Coordinator: Prepare a client stock request with organization, owner, item, location, quantity and required date.
  • Inventory Reviewer: Gather the current revision, linked evidence and stock scope before a decision.
  • Warehouse Operator: Show an approved request, eligible lot and active claim before physical confirmation.
  • Billing Specialist: Present the statement's client reference, service date, pallet days and rate beside the parent request.

Stays with a person

  • A person decides whether to approve a request or statement, confirms physical issue and authorizes a compensating correction.
  • Proto can prepare records and point to evidence; the responsible role records the decision.
  • A connected external source confirms its own reference when needed.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Set client scope

Create the client organization, staff membership, item and storage location.

  2. Prepare request work

Agree the request details, attachment evidence and owner assignment.

  3. Separate decisions

Assign an Inventory Reviewer independent of the preparer. Rehearse approval and rejection.

  4. Run the physical path

Reserve eligible free stock and confirm an issue once.

  5. Reconcile exceptions

Test a repeated operation key, stale revision, ineligible lot and compensating movement.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for 3PL SCM.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure SCM for 3PL for your business. Start with one client organization, active item, storage location and stock request; rehearse review and physical issue before widening the scope.

Who owns a client stock request?

The Coordinator prepares the request and assigns an owner. The Inventory Reviewer records the decision against the current revision. The Warehouse Operator confirms physical issue after approval.

How is free stock calculated?

Compare posted signed movements with active reservations for the exact item, location and lot. Lot release and expiry evidence guide eligibility.

Does a reservation change on-hand stock?

A reservation claims eligible free quantity. The posted stock movement records the physical quantity change when the issue is confirmed.

How are lots controlled?

Each tracked lot carries a code, expiry date, release state and owner reference. The team checks those details before reserving it.

How is a repeated operation handled?

The operation receipt keeps a stable key, expected revision, result state and linked effects. The team checks that receipt before repeating an uncertain action.

Can a posted movement be corrected?

A correction uses a compensating movement linked to the original, which remains available for reconciliation.

Who reviews storage charges?

The Billing Specialist submits a statement against a parent request. The Inventory Reviewer checks its revision and evidence, then approves, rejects or returns it with a reason.

What does Operations Overview show?

It brings scoped stock position, pending review decisions, failed operations, movement and availability charts and an exception queue into the primary work screen.

How do I connect billing or another stock source?

Choose the authoritative source and reference mapping during setup. Reconcile a statement or operation receipt with that connected system when its confirmation is required.
