Prepare the next review with Proto

Use Proto to help find pending reviews and prepare the evidence people need for quality decisions.

It can

  • Inspector: Find my assigned inspections and show the requirements still awaiting a result before I submit the work.
  • Quality Approver: Prepare the inspection review by identifying failed requirements and the artwork behind the label evidence.
  • Corrective Action Owner: Show my actions and their due dates so I can prepare the next effectiveness submission.
  • Auditor: Find the findings due for follow-up and show their closure dates before I contact the owners.

Stays with a person

  • The assistant needs the access and record context agreed for its task.
  • Quality Approver remains responsible for inspection disposition and independent effectiveness review.
  • Specialist legal judgment comes from the people your business appoints.
  • The assistant cannot infer that a changed attachment has passed review or that an acknowledgment establishes competence.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Choose the first cycle

Select a packaging subject and market with an identifiable artwork revision. Bring the current attachment and a changed version so the team can rehearse the review handoff.

  2. Agree responsibility

Identify Inspector, Quality Approver and Corrective Action Owner. Admin confirms the person-to-user mapping. Arrange an independent effectiveness reviewer before corrective work starts.

  3. Prepare standards and evidence

Document Controller prepares the applicable instruction. Agree which inspection requirements and label checks apply, what attachments support them and how the team handles a not-applicable requirement.

  4. Rehearse both outcomes

Complete a supported inspection and test acceptance. Then fail a required check, test blocked acceptance, reject the inspection and follow its linked containment action.

  5. Verify correction and history

Submit a correction for independent review. Reject an ineffective attempt and confirm the history remains available after resubmission. Keep the parent issue open until all linked actions are accepted and closed.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Label & Packaging Compliance.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Label & Packaging Compliance for your business. Begin with a packaging subject, its artwork revision and the requirements your Inspector uses. Rehearse a successful inspection and a rejection that leads to independently verified corrective work.

How do we distinguish similar artwork?

Record the SKU, market and version, attach the actual file and link it to the inspection. Agree a revision naming convention during setup so the person preparing the artwork and the reviewer identify the same material.

What label checks can we record?

Record allergen, ingredients, barcode, claims and language checks against a particular artwork revision. Each check keeps its result, evidence and reviewer. Different checks on the same artwork can have different outcomes.

Does approved artwork mean the inspection is accepted?

Artwork approval and inspection acceptance are separate decisions. Quality Approver still examines the inspection requirements and their evidence before deciding disposition. Production release follows the process your business has agreed for its production system.

What happens when a required inspection check fails?

Acceptance is blocked. Quality Approver can reject the inspection, which creates a linked nonconformance and containment corrective action. The team then follows the cause and correction through effectiveness review.

Can the action owner verify their own correction?

Effectiveness review requires an independent reviewer. Corrective Action Owner submits the work, and an independent Quality Approver decides whether it was effective. A failed verification returns the action to implementation while preserving the previous review history.

How are evidence corrections handled?

Submitted label check evidence is retained. Corrections add attributed successor evidence so the reviewer can understand the earlier submission and the change. Agree when a file change requires a new artwork revision and a fresh review.

Can we follow audit findings separately?

Auditor records each finding against its audit with a requirement, severity, owner and due date. A closure date describes the finding's completion. Review that date separately from the overall audit status when following outstanding work.

How do document acknowledgments work?

Document Controller records the person and acknowledgment date against the exact controlled document revision. An earlier acknowledgment remains associated with the earlier revision. Agree who needs to read each changed instruction before reviewing coverage.

Does this provide external certification?

The review records support internal verification and quality decisions. External certification and regulatory interpretation remain with the authorized bodies and specialists your business uses. Agree how their advice or evidence enters the review during setup.
