Ask Proto to gather the evidence

Give your team help with request preparation, review and evidence tracing.

It can

  • Inventory Coordinator: Find assigned requests due soon and show the item, location and requested units before preparation.
  • Inventory Reviewer: Gather a request's current revision, attachments, scans and linked effects for a decision.
  • App Administrator: Check organization membership and the item and location lists before a pilot.
  • Auditor: Trace a completed request from review decision through scan and posted movement to operation outcome.

Stays with a person

  • Proto can help organize the evidence, but a person decides whether a request revision is approved and whether a disputed physical read matches the intended stock.
  • An uncertain operation needs comparison with its linked effects.
  • Access rules and connection behavior must be configured and checked with real users and devices.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Map operating context

Enter organizations, members, items, locations and lot rules. Check base units and tag conventions.

  2. Agree on decisions

Assign coordinators and reviewers, define attachment visibility, and rehearse a request revision through approval or return.

  3. Trace physical work

Record a scan, reservation and movement against an approved request. Compare each quantity and reference.

  4. Exercise exceptions

Test a repeated device event, unknown tag, partial issue, failed operation and reviewed correction.

  5. Review the operating picture

Compare Operations Overview with posted movements, active reservations and open review records.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for SCM with Barcode/RFID.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure SCM with Barcode/RFID for your business. Begin with one organization, a known item and storage location, a request and a reviewer.

What does a scan record?

A scan can hold a tag, device event identity, time, units and the parent request. The team can compare that read with the approved request and the stock record.

Does a scan change stock by itself?

A scan is the physical observation. The posted movement is the quantity effect used for stock history.

How is available stock different from on-hand stock?

Posted signed movements establish on-hand stock. Active reservations identify quantity already set aside for requests and help explain what remains available.

How do reviewers see the right request?

A decision records the source revision, reviewer, outcome and reason. Compare that revision with the current request when work continues.

What if a scanner sends the same event twice?

Use the device event identity and request context to identify the earlier read. Reconcile the action outcome before recording another stock effect.

How are lots handled?

A lot carries its code, expiry and release state. Reservations and movements can point to that lot for a trace through the request.

How is a stock correction recorded?

Keep the original posted movement and link a compensating movement to it after reviewing the current scope and supporting evidence.

Can auditors follow the evidence?

The request links its decisions, attachments, scans, movements and operation outcomes so an auditor can inspect the chain.

Where do device and label connections fit?

Agree on tag identity, event identity and the system that manages labels before connecting devices. Rehearse duplicate and unknown reads with your actual equipment.
