Prepare the next stock decision with Proto

Ask Proto to help configure and inspect lot-specific stock work.

It can

  • Inventory Coordinator: Prepare a draft request with the item, location, requested units and required date for a person to inspect.
  • Inventory Reviewer: Gather the request revision, lot context, attachments and related decisions for an independent review.
  • App Administrator: Check item, location and team records before the first stock cycle.
  • Auditor: Trace an authorized recall scope through its request, movements, reservations and receipts.

Stays with a person

  • A person still makes the independent decision on a request revision and checks a stock exception before the team treats it as reconciled.
  • Ask Proto to organize the evidence and point to the linked records; the accountable team member decides what action to take.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Map the scope

Choose an organization, active locations, item range and people who prepare and review stock work.

  2. Prepare master records

Confirm SKU, base unit, lot codes, expiry dates, release states and location eligibility notes.

  3. Rehearse a request

Have an Inventory Coordinator submit a receive or move request and a separate Inventory Reviewer decide its revision.

  4. Follow the effect

Compare the decision with the operation receipt, signed movement or active reservation.

  5. Rehearse an exception

Use a Failed or NeedsReview receipt and a recall scope to establish who investigates and what evidence closes the case.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for SCM with Lot Tracking.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure SCM with Lot Tracking for your business. Begin with one organization, a small item range, two locations and a reviewed stock request.

How does the team identify a lot?

A Stock Lot records its lot code, item, expiry date, release state and owner reference. Use the item and organization context when two lots have similar codes.

Who reviews a stock request?

Inventory Reviewer decides an eligible request revision independently and records a decision and reason. Inventory Coordinator prepares the assigned request.

What happens when the request changes?

The request carries a revision. Review Decisions retain the source revision they address, so the team can distinguish an earlier decision from a later version.

Where can we see stock movement history?

Stock Movements identify their parent request, item, location, signed quantity and optional lot. A correcting movement can point to the movement it reverses.

How are reservations represented?

A Stock Reservation records item, location, quantity, expiry and state. It can identify a lot and links to the request behind the claim.

How does recall work stay connected to stock?

A Recall Scope links to a stock request and organization and records its lot code, reason and affected units. The team can inspect linked movements, reservations, decisions and receipts.

What evidence is kept with a request?

Record Attachments keep a title, evidence type, visibility, uploader and file. Review Decisions and Operation Receipts keep the decision and action result.

Can an administrator approve a request?

App Administrator maintains organization, item, location and team setup. The independent request decision belongs to Inventory Reviewer.

How do we investigate an operation exception?

Read the operation receipt's result, expected revision and failure reason with the parent request. Compare any movement, reservation or recall scope before treating the work as reconciled.
