Shipping
Reconcile the staged load, close carrier manifests and record what leaves the warehouse.
Assemble the shipment
Parcel work commonly links a carton with its order and tracking number. LTL and full-truckload work can group cartons or pallets, including compatible orders for the same consignee. ShipmentOrders retains those order links instead of hiding them in a free-text load description.
A shipment carries the warehouse, consignee, carrier, service, physical counts, weight and relevant freight information. Cartons retain their own contents and shipping labels. The shipment’s totals should agree with its actual linked containers before it moves into the dispatch queue.
Pallet nesting is a handling relationship: a pallet containing several cartons does not create a second copy of their stock. Staging records where the containers are waiting, so the Shipping Clerk can compare the planned load with the physical lane.
Prepare parcel and freight documents
Parcel labeling supplies the configured service and ship-to details to the carrier connection. LTL work additionally retains the bill of lading, freight class, pallet and carton counts, weight and PRO reference where applicable. Carrier-specific and compliance documents must be configured and tested for the intended workflow.
CarrierRequests tracks each logical document, transmit or void operation. A confirmed failure and a lost response need different handling. When an accepted response may have been lost, the Shipping Clerk reconciles the stable request identity before trying an operation that could create another tracking number or load.
The label is evidence of a label operation. It does not prove that the carrier collected the goods. Carton document states remain distinct from the license plate’s physical handling state; the system does not need a fictional inventory movement just to represent a printed label.

Build the open manifest
The manifest groups shipments for a warehouse, carrier, account and operating day. An eligible shipment joins only one active manifest, and the open batch exposes its shipment count and weight for review. Different service close arrangements follow the configured carrier setup.
Shipping Clerk works Today’s Shipping Manifests and Shipments Not Yet Manifested. Warehouse Manager can add an eligible shipment to an open manifest but cannot close it. Packer prepares cartons and Warehouse Operator moves released handling units; neither action substitutes for the clerk’s dispatch check.
Before close, the clerk compares listed shipments with staged containers, labels and unresolved pack tasks. A missing carton is located or removed through the controlled correction path. A carton in the lane without a shipment is reconciled before inclusion. Cutoff pressure does not make an incomplete pack eligible.

Close without declaring handover
Only Shipping Clerk closes the manifest. Close freezes the reviewed shipment membership and records the decision. Transmission to the configured carrier and generation of freight documents retain their own request outcomes. A closed or transmitted manifest is still preparation for dispatch, not evidence that the driver took custody.
No shipment is appended to the closed batch. Late cartons use a subsequent eligible manifest. Corrections retain the original close and require the applicable void or replacement handling, including carrier reconciliation where the batch or label has already been accepted.
If a request is uncertain, the clerk resolves its status before repeating it. An assumed failure must not produce duplicate carrier documents, and an assumed success must not conceal missing dispatch paperwork.

Confirm tender and issue stock once
Shipping Clerk records carrier handover with its timestamp, actor and supporting evidence. Only that confirmed tender authorizes the outbound stock event, for verified cartons or full-pallet contents. The event issues the exact packed positions, consumes their remaining order reservations and updates shipped quantities once.
Label generation, staging, manifest close and transmission do not decrement inventory. A replayed handover or an outward-message retry cannot issue the same carton twice. Tracking and shipment events can then be delivered to the upstream order system through WarehouseDeliveries, independently of the local posting.
Reconcile documents and charges
Shipping Clerk manages void and reissue with recorded reasons and carrier confirmation. Reprinting a valid label preserves its tracking number. Replacing one requires the original request to be reconciled and the affected carton, shipment and manifest to remain consistent.
Carrier Manifest Summary brings dispatch totals together for later invoice comparison. Configured dimensional weight and freight information provide a basis for review, while actual carrier charges and dispute outcomes remain external evidence. On-Time Ship compares the order’s completed fulfillment time with its original ship cutoff. A partial handover or early label does not make the whole order on time.

Reports
All reportsOn-Time Ship
Fully fulfilled orders with Orders.FulfilledAt on or before immutable OriginalShipCutoffAt divided by all fully fulfilled eligible orders in the reporting period. FulfilledAt is the latest evidenced tender needed for all non-cancelled units, including split shipments; calendar ShipDate and manifest transmission cannot satisfy the cutoff. Outstanding/late unshipped orders and cancellations are reported separately to expose denominator coverage.
Carrier Manifest Summary
By manifest day, Warehouse, Carrier, account and service: frozen included shipments, cartons/pallets and reviewed billable weight, with transmission acknowledgement and actual tender shown separately. Reconcile label/void/request outcomes and carrier billing references; a manifest close is not pickup evidence.
